Use your Chromebook offline

Even if you’re not connected to the Internet, you can still do lots of things with your Chromebook.

Note: Some offline apps and services won’t work in incognito or guest mode.

Check your email

You can read, respond to, and search your emails when you aren’t connected to the Internet using Gmail Offline. To set it up:

  1. Open the Gmail Offline page in the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Click Add to Chrome and then Add app.
  3. In the corner of your screen, click the Launcher Launcher and then Up arrow Up arrow.
  4. Click the Gmail Offline app Gmail Offline.
  5. Select Allow offline mail and then Continue. Your messages will save so you can view them offline. If you close Chrome while your messages are syncing, they won’t all be saved.

Once you've set up offline email, you can use it by clicking the Gmail Offline app Gmail Offline.

Any messages you write, archive, label, or delete while you’re offline will be sent or moved when you connect to the Internet. Learn more about using Gmail offline.

Check your schedule

You can see your calendar and respond to event invitations while you’re offline. First, turn on Google Calendar offline:

  2. Click the Google Calendar app Calendar.
  3. On the top right, click Settings Settings and then Offline.
  4. In the window that appears, click Enable. You’ll see a message showing that your calendar is syncing.
